So you just got some new air plants. Now what? Hundreds of questions might be floating through your head. When do I water them? How much water is too much water? Don't worry, we got your covered. In this guide we'll go through how to take care of air plants and how to show them off in the most creative ways possible.

First of all, what are air plants? Air plants are genus of plant that don't need soil to grow. That's right, plants...without soil. Instead, they absorb moisture and nutrients through their leaves from the air. Pretty crazy, I know.

How Do I Take Care of My Air Plants?

The main question people have when it comes to air plants is how to water them. Watering air plants is simple. The best way, in my experience, has been to mist them with water. Simply take a spray bottle filled with regular tap water and spray your air plants until they're completely covered.

Another method of watering air plants, is completely submerging them in water for 1-2 minutes. After submerging your air plants, make sure to let them air dry. Leaving your air plants wet can cause them to rot.

How Do I Know When To Water My Air Plants?

A general rule of thumb is to soak your air plants once a week. Don't overdue it, however. If the leaves of your air plant start to wrinkle, you should be worried. Wrinkling and dry edges are a sign that your air plants need water-soak them immediately.

Fun Ways To Display Air Plants

Now, on to the fun part! Air plants can be displayed in hundred on different ways. Anything can be an air plant holder-even sea shells. We'll go through three of my favorite air plant displays in the rest of this article.

1.   Drift Wood

Drift wood is the perfect natural wooden air plant display. It's real wood, with a bunch of nooks that are perfect for air plants to hang out in. The best part is, it feels completely natural. Don't get me wrong, modern decor is amazing in it's own way, but there's something special about having natural decor.

Drift wood and air plants are often used together in terrariums, but also make a great combination as desk or shelf decor.

2. Macrame Hanger

Did someone say aesthetic? Macrame hangers are amazing on their own, and adding air plants to the mix only makes them even better.

Tons of macrame air plant hangers are available on sites like amazon. This one here is a great 4 for 1 deal.

Macrame air plant hangers are a unique and beautiful way to show off your air plants.

3. Air Plant Wall

Now this one might take a little more effort-but I promise it's worth it. The best part of air plant walls is they can look however you want them too. A simple shelf can be enough, or you can take it to the next level like the wall pictured above. If you're looking for air plants to fill your air plant wall, check out our variety pack of air plants.
